On May 9, 2022, I hosted a celebration at the Chapel of Jim Knapp (July 28, 1939 – November 10, 2021) with Scrape and the Jim Knapp Orchestra playing his original music.
We performed excerpts from Panama Hotel Jazz at the September 14, 2022 ribbon-cutting ceremony for the restoration of the Tsutakawa gates at the Seattle Arboretum.
On September 11, 2022, I accepted the award for Historical Record of the Year from the Jazz Journalists Association because of my role in finding the source tape for John Coltrane: A Love Supreme, Live in Seattle.
December 17 1:30-3:00pm at the Panama Hotel (605 S Main St) for Japantown Jingle, I will be performing with guitarist Milo Petersen and bassist Phil Sparks.
Author Priscilla Long has chosen me as one of the twelve authors for the Jack Straw 2023 Writers Program. I’m looking forward to sharing my work in readings and podcasts in the new year.

Representing the Japanese American WWII experience, the Steve Griggs Ensemble presented a program of original music and stories at the historic Panama Hotel from 2013 to 2016. The Panama Hotel Tea Room is located on the corner of 6th Avenue South and Main Street, the
